2024 Aphid Monitoring in Scotland using water trap network
The 2024 Scottish Aphid Monitoring Network is sponsored by Albert Bartlett and co-ordinated by FERA. This information is shared openly to inform all Scottish growers and benefit high health seed potato production in Scotland. All sponsored traps have now been allocated, many thanks to all who have volunteered to operate traps.

North Scotland, Grampian, Angus and Perthshire - Low risk
No samples were returned from Borders region
Note that trap operators will only submit samples during their growing season. Sites where trapping has ceased are identified as white.
North Scotland
Virus pressure remained low this week. Samples were returned from 2 sites. No Peach Potato aphids or Potato aphid were found. Other virus vectors found were: Black-bean aphid (a good vector of PVA), Leaf-curling Plum aphid, Grain aphid.
Grampian
Virus pressure remained low this week. Samples were returned from 4 sites. No Peach Potato aphids were found. Potato aphids were found at one site this week. Other virus vectors found were: Willow-carrot aphid, Black-bean aphid (a good vector of PVA), Cabbage aphid.
Angus and Perthshire
Virus pressure dropped to Low this week. Samples were returned from 9 sites. No Peach Potato aphids were found. Potato aphids were found at 2 sites. Other virus vectors found were: Willow-Carrot aphid, Bird cherry-Oat aphid, Black-bean aphid (a good vector of PVA), Grain aphid, Leaf-curling plum aphid.
Borders
No samples were returned.
