Testing of Peat used for Seed Potato Production
All seed potatoes grown in Scotland must be grown in a medium that has been tested, and found free, of PCN prior to planting. This includes PBTC minitubers grown in peat and peat mixtures.
If you use peat for seed potato production you must contact your local area office who will arrange for a sample to be collected and forwarded to the Nematology laboratories at SASA. A fee of £14.00 plus VAT per sample of 400ml or less will be charged. Results will normally be issued within 10 working days of the laboratory receiving the sample.
If you have any technical queries about testing peat for PCN, or are enquiring about the laboratory results for any peat that you have had tested, please contact the Zoology Team.
