Seed for Export

Seed lots to be exported may require an Orange International Certificate and the seed lot must be sampled by an official ISTA Sampler.

The Application for Sampling CERT 9 Scotland form needs to be completed by the exporter.  Once completed and returned to OSTS, the OSTS will organise an ISTA Sampler to take the required samples and for them to be tested at the OSTS.  For enquiries, please contact Gillian Musgrove, seedtesting@sasa.gov.scot or telephone 0131 244 8851.  The costs involved can be found in the OSTS – Export Pricelist.

If a Phytosanitary Certificate is also required, see the information below.

Financial support is available through the Movement Assistance Scheme, to cover the costs of phytosanitary certificates and ISTA sampling and certification.  This support is available for exports to Northern Ireland only and is scheduled to end at the end of December 2025.

For requests for export of seeds, please fill in form OSTS PC1, or for requests for export reforwarding of seeds please fill in form OSTS PC2.

Please email your completed form to seedtesting@sasa.gov.scot or post it to OSTS, SASA, Roddinglaw Road, Edinburgh, EH12 9FJ.

On receipt of a completed form you will be advised on further actions required.

Any general enquiries for export of seeds should be sent to seedtesting@sasa.gov.scot with SEED EXPORT ENQUIRY in the subject line.
