From 1 January 2021, the UK Plant Passport regime changed to reflect the UK’s departure from the EU.
Please note, the easement to allow draft UK Plant Passports to be attached in EU Member States on plants for planting intended for the final users is extended until 31 January 2027.
However, the UK Plant Passport will only be valid after a visual check is made and recorded by the Professional Operator. The operator must document that the visual checks have been conducted, and that the UK Plant Passport scheme requirements are met.
Changes have happened in the following areas:
- The content and format of the Plant Passport changed to differentiate EU Plant Passports from UK Plant Passports;
- Country of origin changes to UK changed for some commodities;
- Protected Zones are now Pest Free Areas in the UK;
- Great Britain Plant Passports (GB) are not applicable for trade from GB to Northern Ireland (NI). GB to NI trade is covered by a Phytosanitary Certificate(s) (PC) or NI plant health label;
- Imports from the EU now require a (PC).
