Course Dates::

This course is held annually on demand,either in May/June or November/December. The closing date for the May/June course will be 12 April 2003

Course Description ::

This is a 1 day course. There will be a short introduction followed by practical sessions in preparation and assessment.One to one training will be given using teaching microscopes.The cost of this course is £220.Lunches, teas and coffees can be purchased from the staff restuarant.

This course will be held in the microscope room within the OSTS building

Course Objectives ::

On completion of this course participants should be able to prepare samples of oilseed rape for tetrazolium assessment and be able to categorise the stained embryo into viable and non-viable categories. We must stress that this is an introductory course and trainees will need to gain considerable experience in their own laboratories before becoming fully competent in this test.

Course Pre-Rquisites ::

It would be an advantage if course participants have some expertise in germination testing of oilseed rape and the stucture of the seed.
