Early February or Late June depending on demand plus a further 2 days in early July.

Course Description ::

The initial course, includes theory and practical sessions, and will last for 4 days. There is a 1-hour test after the completion of the course.
The course will be limited to 12 participants in order that the full value of the practical demonstration and tuition may be obtained

A further 2 days of practical work takes place in the Cereal Plots in July. On the 1st day there may be a 1-hour refresher on the main taxonomic characters if required.
The final day will consist of a 2 hour plot test which will commence at 10.30.

Candidates should bring a hand lens with x8 or x10 magnification, a penknife, pen or pencil and for the June/July courses adequate waterproof clothing and suitable footwear.

The cost of the course is currently £455 (VAT exempt). There is also a fee of £60 (VAT exempt) for the plot test.

Course Location ::

The February course will take place at the Scottish Agricultural Science Agency, 82 Craigs Road, Edinburgh.

The June/July course will be held at Gogarbank farm, Roddinglaw, Edinburgh

Course Objectives ::

Those passing theory and practical examinations at the end of the course may apply to SEERAD for a Cereal Crop Inspectors' Licence.
A provisional licence lasting two years will be issued.
To maintain a licence, a minimum area must be inspected annually, and after the initial two years, competence must be demonstrated at triennial practical examinations.
