Introduction
SASA - Science and Advice for Scottish Agriculture A Division of the Scottish Government
Within SASA, the Procurement department is responsible for procurement policy and strategy. Responsibility for procurement activity is distributed to the people best placed to make each decision rather than a large centralised procurement function.
Through our procurement actions we aim to achieve best value for money, by the effective use of competition. We will clearly specify the requirements of our users, engage with suppliers in a fair and ethical manner, and comply with EU procurement guidelines.
A key objective is to continually improve our procurement activities. For some services we will look to build relationships with fewer suppliers over much longer terms for mutual benefit. For other services, we will increasingly use the framework contracts available from centralised buying agencies, particularly for the purchase of routine goods and services.
